Sorry, I typed that at 5 in the morning after trying to get RSH/SSH
working for 4 hours..
We are trying to get password-less RSH working using whatever means
we can. We have a band new 2005.1 install we are working with. I
would prefer if it was through pam but I understand that pam is a
pain to work with..
For SSH we do NOT want to have to manually setup every account to use
password-less authentication. We currently have 4 clusters and 6 big
iron servers that accounts are shared across. Its hard enough keeping
all of that working let alone ssh keys. We want
HostBasedAuthentication but it appears as though we are always
missing some setting to let this happen.
And whats up with the SSH/RSH developers not giving some form of
debugging method? I mean.. The only thing you get for logging is
login notices. I can't find any way to get useful debugging out of RSH.
Whats most frustrating is that this is effortless on Fedora. Very
little file modification is needed.
Thanks for any help you guys can offer!

Has anybody been been able to get RSH and SSH working password less?
We are trying to convert our cluster to Gentoo but can't get password
less authentication working at all. We used our normal RedHat
oriented methods but hat just mad things ten times worse.
So, if you have a web page that actually CLEARLY documents a WORKING
method please let me know =)
Thanks for an help you are able to offer.
Using these two pages together should give you all the information
you need.

http://www.arches.uga.edu/~pkeck/ssh/
Alternatively, you can try googling ssh authorized_keys2
btw.. Are you referring to passwordless authentication or without
Pam..
There is a difference...
If you need further help feel free to email me off-list as this
doesn't
have anything to do with clustering
Cheers,
C.
