I know in March I'm going to be deploying this across all the servers
I manage. A few parties have contacted me offlist and all of what you
reference is right along what myself and others are probably trying to
do. If enough people are interested maybe we can create a unified
howto for large-scale gentoo deployments.
Then maybe we (and others) should set up a "meeting" in IRC to discuss
what and how to do it ??
I was going to be needing it myself soon for work stuff, just wanted to
figure out a reasonable way of handling some changes at other levels
too, so count me in as the person to actually put puppet in the tree
(but I wouldn't mind some help with other bits).
We are thinking about deploying puppet and I put it in my overlay, so
you can install it via layman, but I haven't had opportunity to test it
yet. From what I gathered on the puppet-users ML, a talk of the main
developer and some short visits to #puppet, Gentoo support is actually
already in puppet (the lack of which stopped us from really using cfengine).
The "admins sharing code and work" bit of puppet seems not to fly yet,
though.
I'd be highly interested in any first hand experiences, and in you
getting the ebuilds into the portage tree ^^.

Thomas
