Did you plug the drive into the usb port? If so,
unplug it and try again. Does the drive and/or hub
have a green indicator light?

Your dmesg shows 4 ports total. Is that all you have?
If you have more then you may need the ohci-hcd or
ehci-hcd drivers:
modprobe ohci-hcd
modprobe ehci-hcd

I tried to connect and disconnect drive some times. Light of device is
switched on. Dmesg report tail changed as:
