Normally, those who had installed the split ebuilds would have far less to upgrade than those using the monolithic builds, as only the ones with actual new code would be upgraded. However, due to the fact that a majority of them (say 2/3 rather than 1/3, as with many of the earlier upgrades) had new code this time, and due to various problems with the gcc-3.4 and 4.x visibility stuff meaning that's now going to be disabled until kde 3.5/4.0, they decided to version-bump all the split packages as well.
