Look in ~/.local/share/applications.  I've had good luck configuring
default file handling applications by adding/modifying files in this
directory.  You'll also want to make sure that your ~/.mime.types or the
global /etc/mime.types file contains a proper entry associating the
filename extension with a MIME type of application/msword.

Very good tip ... I will keep that one safe in my inbox for a while.
This will be 'option B' in the future because Canek Peláez Valdés
suggestion worked best.
