The problems it caused was that it explicitly broke emacs and other things on users installed systems, by removing binary functionality when the openmotif downgrade went through. There currently exists no real framework for dealing with this, other than to bump all software that depends on the library in question with a revision to force a recompile to make it work again post-install. Its unpretty, massive and bad.. i think we need to fix this, soon. portage-ng seems another year into the future with all the requirements, so I'm not sure its the right thing to put it off for. //Spider -- begin .signature This is a .signature virus!
