Not sure of the relevancy, but I always found lfs' benchmark for compile times useful. IIRC, they say time the compile time of binutils, and then everything else is said to compile in percentages of that (basically, the compile time of binutils is considered one BSU, buildtime standard unit, and everything else is measured in BSU's). The advantage there is that there is only one number that is machine specific, everything else can be a general extrapolation from it. Just a thought,
