By the way Linda,
Who? I'm not sure where Ciaran translated "don't" ("...tell me what my name is") into "please do"
turn off your damn email notification crap. I don't care if you want to know if I read your mail.
Then don't send notification. It's just requested, not required. If your mail program can't handle that, I suggest KMail.
Turn it off. This is great annoyance, and is impolite, in regards to list.
I don't use a different program specifically for mailing lists. I might be willing to go out of my way to turn it off manually when I send to the list, if it were a polite request, but demands are even moreso impolite and don't get the same treatment.
How would you like it if everyone signed up for the list sent a reply each time you sent a mail with this request? I'd wager you would turn that crap off *real* quickly in that case. Hundreds of emails saying "yes I read your worthless mail" can't be a good thing.
