You've got a directory for cyrillic in both places -- /usr/share/fonts/ and /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/. The one in /usr/X11R6 should be a symlink to the other one.
I've modified the build slightly to ewarn there instead of die. The migration, which runs just after remove_font_dirs(), should also catch that kind of problem.
