Hi, For anybody not following bug #29388[1]:
The situation of motif in portage is a mess currently. There are three different versions: lesstif, openmotif-2.1, openmotif-2.2. Some programs require a special version, some work with every version, but currently you can only install one of them. So i sat down and wrote x11-libs/motif-config and corresponding ebuilds (openmotif-2.1.30-r8, openmotif-2.2.3-r2, lesstif-0.94.0-r1) that provide virtual/motif. What does it do? It let you install all three versions of motif side by side and you can choose which motif version you want to use as default. Packages that require a special version of motif can use motif-config to find out the correct linking and include path. This should elimitate current problems and the need of a lesstif useflag. Currently all this packages are hardmask, so please give it a try. If there are no complaints or grave bugs within a week, i'll move them to testing. mfg, heinrich :) [1] http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29388 -- [email protected] mailing list
