If you're looking for an X server on Windows, you might want to check
out http://wiki.freedesktop.org/wiki/Xming. Basically, it's Cygwin/X
minus the Cygwin. Xdeep is a quasi-commercial, unsupported,
free-as-in-beer X server -- see http://www.pexus.com/ for some more info.
