If my understanding is correct, then yes.  A "last rites" e-mail means
that somebody is taking responsibility for removing a package unless
there are notable (and credible) objections.  Your e-mail was different,
as it merely suggested that "someone" should remove the package, but
offered no assurance that somebody actually would do so.  Unless you were
suggesting that you were going to remove the package yourself?

Does that make sense?
