if they arent, then they're running wicked old baselayout which means their system is horribly outdated anyways ... to be honest, i want to say last time i tried to use a system with bash-2, existing code in portage fell apart (eclasses/baselayout/etc...) adding bash-3 to the base requirements is simple enough ... everything else suggested is just overkill -mike
