baselayout-gui was supposed to be a brand new project with a few simple
screens. Most of the prospectives ideas were what I had in mind -
easily doable inside the timescale.

Ah, that was the snag. The chosen student wanted to do it in python
with GTK+ bindings.

It was only AFTER he was accepted that he acknowleged that he didn't
know python that well and knew nothing about GTK+, so over half the time
was spend him "learning" about above topics.

My mistake was trusting him too much....

Saying that, the project is almost complete - the only reason it never
hit portage was the it destroyed config parts that it did not know
about. After SOC finished, my student has been mute to my emails :/
