You are basing yourself on too much FUD[1] which may or may not happen; the only influence you can have is as you said yourself, it sounds like that people that are deeply concerned with this should step up and start a petition[2] for this and find like minded people. Direct yourself upstream[3] or take a gamble whether to use it or not.
