TL;DR: overlays and the main repos will now live on the same server

Hi all,

Hopefully everybody has seen my email about Gentoo Infrastructure losing
a lot of servers soon. If not, see [1]. This is one of the emails to
work on reducing our footprint ASAP for the reduction in servers.

The infra team will be
- discontinuing SVN repo hosting and migrating all remaining SVN repos to Git.
- merging git.gentoo.org and git.overlays.gentoo.org

SVN discontinued:
-----------------
In an effort to reduce our server footprint, the infrastructure team
will be discontinuing SVN repo hosting as of 2014/06/21.

All remaining SVN repos will be migrated to Git.
This applies to both svn.gentoo.org and svn.overlays.gentoo.org
This is being tracked in bug #513182 [2]

There are very few repos that still actively commit new content.
Here are the only repos that have new content within the last 180 days.

svn.g.o:
linux-patches (today)
baselayout (63 days ago)

svn.overlays.g.o
proj/toolchain (1 day ago)
proj/vdr (14 days ago)
dev/pauldv (29 days ago)
dev/vapier (96 days ago)
dev/dirtyepic (113 days ago)
proj/gnustep (129 days ago)
proj/alt (148 days ago)

Git merging:
------------
We presently host two separate git services, git.gentoo.org and
git.overlays.gentoo.org. This came about because the former existed
before gitolite/gitosis came into existence, and were managed the same
was as the primary CVS+SVN services, with per-user logins.

Those logins will no longer be support, and the services will be hosted
entirely by goto lite from this point forward.

Aside from the two gitolite-admin repos, and one repo that is hosted in
both sides for redundancy, there are no namespace conflicts between the
repos whatsoever.

>From a user perspective, you will be seeing the SSH public key for the
hosts change when we move servers, but both hostnames will continue to
work for the time being. Nothing should be broken by the move.

After the previous outage of git.overlays.gentoo.org, we will also be
ensuring that a read-only mirror of the repos exists on another host,
possibly two, for extra US/EU hosting of the content.
