Hi,
With things brewing in kde-overlay, we would like to propose the new
categories 'kde-apps' and 'kde-plasma'.
kde-apps will contain approximately 220 packages.
kde-plasma will contain approximately 30 packages.
KDE Applications, KDE Plasma and KDE Frameworks will be released
independently and each with different release cycles. It is for this
reason that we feel a new category for them is appropriate.
As there won't be any future KDE SC 4 releases anymore, kde-apps will
contain packages that already reside in kde-base. These will block
each other and we will provide kde-apps/*meta ebuilds for a smooth
transition.
Before we introduce kde-apps to the tree, the KDE team is going to
adjust in tree dependencies on
kde-base/foo
to
|| ( kde-apps/foo:4 kde-base/foo )
which will enable us to push a properly working KDE Applications
release to the tree.
'kde-base' category is deprecated now and will likely go away with KDE
SC 4 and KDE Workspaces 4.
