Upstream's 4.2.1 is OK :-)
I've compiled sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-4.2.1 on Ubuntu and
successfully booted Ubuntu as following.
root@ppc64le:~# uname -a
Linux ppc64le 4.2.1-gentoo #1 SMP Wed Sep 23 19:28:17 PDT 2015
ppc64le ppc64le ppc64le GNU/Linux
