A "slot operator" (like :* or :=) is not what is meant here, but a "slot dependency". These terms are defined in PMS: https://projects.gentoo.org/pms/6/pms.html#x1-860008.2.6.3 Also I think that the previous wording was more accurate here. Slot dependencies are not allowed inside <pkg>. Ulrich
