xterm isn't part of the core set of X applications and libraries from FreeDesktop.org and it's not something I personally use. I've dropped x11@ ownership of it.
Please pick it up if you use it or it interests you. There are only 4 bugs filed against it. None looks particularly difficult and the upstream maintainer is active on bugzilla.
