Please don't forget to update your IRC handle in LDAP. For example, if you have moved from Freenode to Libera.Chat:
$ perl_ldap -b user -E gentooIM irc://irc.freenode.net/<your_old_nick> ${USER}
$ perl_ldap -b user -C gentooIM ircs://irc.libera.chat/<your_new_nick> ${USER}
