Save yourself the all heartache of cross compiles and simply use a
chroot. x86_64 lends itself well for this task...

unpack stageball. 
mkdir -p usr/portage
mount --bind /usr/portage usr/portage
mount --bind /sys sys/
linux32 chroot . /bin/bash --login
$EDITOR /etc/make.conf
# be sure to change PKGDIR from so the host binpkgs don't get
overwritten.

emerge $stuff
