Sorry I'm not going to answer your portage questions. I'll let somebody
else do that.. 

But just as a reference I wanted to point out that baselayout-lite
hopefully will soon be going away in favor of baselayout-2 which aims to
be posix shell compat aware and should hopefully be suitable on 
embedded systems. Those of you interested in supporting that effort
should contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] and offer your testing support.
