could you provide some more information ? - what file system format is your rootfs ? - what kind of storage are you using ? (IDE/PATA/CF/FLASH/....) - what boot loader are you using ? - is the Gentoo install all standard stuff or are you using embedded replacements ? - is it normally read only or do you just want to boot it up initially that way ? -mike
