I did have k3b running under KDE in the previous incarnation of my desktop. I needed to repartition so I wiped it and went with Xfce4, since its footprint is much lighter. I was running the same kernel version: 2.6.9.
Strange, though: I do not have qpkg or equery on my box. What pkg are they a part of? I found a "quickpkg" in the Gentoo handbook, but that was for something else.
