I have fixed my earlier problem with a Google search producing this page
so my problem of turning on my computer is resolved. However, if
anyone can tell me what I should do to boot into yaBoot, or if Gentoo
can handle Grub2 or another bootloader for an Apple G5 then I'd greatly
appreciate it. Also, it is still a mystery if I should change the boot
arguments. Currently I've changed to boot-args= "rd=*hd:1" I thought this would send me to the yaBoot partition, but no, it's back to OS X, which means my earlier guess that the drive numbers started at zero, which may still be true, is not an issue. Finally, if anyone can clarify about the equivalence or equivocation between the two /dev/sdb2 /dev/rdisk1 I'd be grateful if it warned me about future potential problems.
