Hi,
you could try our work on that page : 01map.net/gentoo/
You could find some logs of compilation into logs directory, a tarball of some portage tree ...
Note:
The last ebuild made is qgis, there are some problems with it. For grass library that you could find on gentoo bugzilla #722353 or on 01map.net portage tree, you need to use the following in order to use all the functionnalities. I will made some changes on grass ebuild maybe in the futur.

Bonjour Michal, bonjour Gerald,For mapserver, as you'll be warn on install, you need to emerge php-cgi with noclean feature to be able to install mapserver with php support, for the moment the ruby option in USE variable is not used but python and perl works well. I use some bug reports from bugs.gentoo.org on mapserver and I prefer to use the php-cgi specific ebuild.
You are not alone, I am doing some GIS stuff on gentoo boxes. From my point of view, I'd like to see fresh ebuilds for the following winning combination:
- Minnesota MapServer:
http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/
- PostGIS:This one is frequently updated.
http://postgis.refractions.net/
and
- Proj.4:
http://proj.maptools.org/
We use proj ebuild which is already in the official portage tree.
PostGIS has an ebuild, but it is an older version, as you reported...
Gerald, I commit (je m'engage) to be a beta tester of your ebuild for those applications. You certainly know that it is quite challenging to install the php/mapscript for example, because their are dependencies to the php configuration. I don't think that I can contribute ebuilds directly at the moment.
You're help is welcome and <x-tad-bigger>appreciate</x-tad-bigger> ;)
What is the status of your ebuilds and who is going to be involved?
For the moment there is only my friend Jean David Techer (which is especialy involved in testing ebuilds) and me involved. All people which are insterrested in developping, maintaining or just using gis ebuilds are welcome. Indeed there are lot of work to do ..
Best regards & a bientot,
Thierry
For some ebuilds you could find a corresponding bugzilla.
Hope we could help gis on gentoo together.
