Hi sage users, sage 8.2 has been released on github but it hasn’t been announced yet.
There are two issues with this release that needs to be discussed: 1) sage-8.2 is hard blocking previous versions of sage. You will need to uninstall sage-8.1 first. The 8.2 install changes some directories into symlinks. This is not allowed by PMS so the only clean way to upgrade is to uninstall first. 2) while the ebuild has been pushed on the overlay, it is currently masked. This is because sage-8.2 depends on mpfr-4 and this version of mpfr is currently masked. See https://bugs.gentoo.org/642316. If I unmask sage-8.2 repoman will scream at me. Be sure to rebuild mpc and gcc after unmasking and upgrading mpfr. Have fun, François
