glsa-check has a big problem that renders it almost unusable for me.

You have to do a "emerge sync" to get the latest security warnings, which then means that subsequent compiles on that machine will use different versions than the baseline.

There needs to be a way to only perform the security updates without updating the whole machine. I understand that packages already installed don't need to be updated, but this caveat applies to installing packages after the unrelated security updates.
