I wrote a brief comparative explanation of DOS/Windows filesystem structure to the *nix filesystem structure on the forums once. I had thought about expanding it into a Documentation/Tips and Tricks forum topic, however I'd love the chance to turn it into part of the Gentoo Documentation Project.
