virtual/qmail is just a new package in category 'virtual'
ls -la /usr/portage/virtual/
Many, many microseconds ago, the 'virtuals' file in your profile was the
only way to specify virtual packages. Now, the second one emerged.
vi /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/virtuals
vi /usr/portage/profiles/base/virtuals
vi /usr/portage/virtual/qmail/qmail-1.03.ebuild
I'm not following you here... am I supposed to edit those files or did you just mean "vi"
in the sense of "use something to view these files"?
And does that mean that I'll have to unmerge my existing qmail
manually?
I humbly believe that you don't need to reinstal qmail.
Also, why is is 1.03 instead of 1.03-r16?
They are different packages.
The virtual just states that it needs something that is compatible with
version 1.03 of qmail.
That would be great but how do I make portage happy? Is there a config file somewhere in
which I can put "virtual/qmail-1.03 = mail-mta/qmail-1.03*" ?
Thanks very much for the quick reply!
