Have you checked /var/log/cups/error_log? There could be
somethin in pointing to the problem. If not, try setting "LogLevel" to debug in
/etc/cups/cupsd.conf and reproduce the error.
Can you post the last few lines of
error_log?

Betreff: [gentoo-server] cupsd server error when i want to configure a printer via web interface
My cupsd server version is net-print/cups-1.1.23-r7 on Ultra Sparc 5. And there are two real printers and a one virtual PDF printer connected.
1. HP laserjet 3015
2. EPSON Stylus Photo 830
3. Virtual PDF printer
After i access the cupsd via webinterface
http://sappho.realss:631/printers
Then i want to adjust some options of the printers. I found that after i click "Configure Printer" on each printer. All of them response
"server-error-service-unavailable" after several minutes loading page.
And here is my cupsd.conf
