With Jason's and Gustavo's departures from the project, we are suddenly down by two extraordinary contributors and by two leads at the same time. Several developers have stepped forward to help fill the void in the developer category. And since most of our communications are rather informal and take place on IRC in #gentoo-sparc, we could probably survive without a lead for quite a while.
Infra, however, do not see it that way. They want us to have a designated lead as an administrative contact. I suspect council also would prefer we have a lead to serve as our TLP contact if they ever need one. And devrel needs a TLP contact because TLP managers figure in to devrel procedures on occasion. So, I suggest we just pick one. Infra suggested we meet to do this; I don't think sparc has met as a group in the time I've been a part of it and I don't see the need to start unless someone wishes. Rather, each year we have re-elected Weeve as lead by unanimous mail vote. I would think that if anyone has a suggestion for lead, please just mail it in or bring it up on #gentoo-sparc. If there's one nomination, that person is it (if you don't like that choice, nominate someone else). If more than one, we'll hold a little election. If no suggestions, you are stuck with me just because of the immediate need for administrative contact and because I am writing this note. We should move quickly; please plan for this to be complete by 20:00 UTC Friday (31 August).
