Well... Actually... It used to be a Gallantry GW500, the theory was that
you buy a little box and it has an email, web server, file server, etc (I
forget the exact packages... but there were the basics, plus upgrades).
Proprietary little thing. I picked up two cheaply on clearance at CompUSA.
Turned out to be a great deal considering it was a working Celeron system
with 64Mb memory, 2 NICs and a 30gb hard drive. I cracked it open and
installed Gentoo on one (for me) and Redhat on the other for a friend.
I suspect if they run on RH8, they will be okay with a Gentoo system. As
to "corrupting" something, I doubt it.
Yup. Seems to run fine. I ended up figuring out start-stop-daemon... Handy...
