I have been in contact with promise support. They were quick to send me an updated firmware patch, b91b.
The b91b patch fixes some compatibility problems with the Asus A7M266-D bios 1009, but it breaks compatibility with i2o_block driver. Fixed: The kernel can no longer see array drives as individual drives. The kernel error messages about "lost interrupt" are gone. The card has stopped beeping under load. Baaad: The upgrade might have killed my test array beyond repair! Had to re-initialize. This might also have been a delayed error from possible previous corruption. The response time is up to 5s long when under load. I have requested an old firmware image to down-grade the card to it's original bios. I then plan to try it out in another motherboard with the i2o_drivers. Throughput with pti_st, 128MB cache and 5 drive (IBM 120GXP 120MB) raid5 gives: 'time dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/raid bs=1024 count=1048576' 'time dd if=/mnt/raid of=/dev/null bs=1024 count=1048576' write 5-7MB/s read 25-35MB/s totally crappy ! One single disk of above make, attached to MB controller, gives both read and write about 30-40MB/s. Jimmy -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
