I don't know if the Gentoo tar is modified or not, but in my pre Gentoo days, I used "-y" with tar instead of "-j". "-j" tells tar that the files is bzipped so try changing it to "-y" (which does the same thing at the tar I used to use). Ryan [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
