Hello, once again :)
So I'm trying to emerge kde.
Portage informed me that one of the dependencies
for kde was xft2.
Okay, so it's trying to emerge xft2, however when
it builds xft2 I get the following error:
/usr/include/fontconfig.h:2760:stray '\2' in
program
and it repeats many times with different numbers in
place of \2
and ends with
/usr/include/fontconfig.h:2760:confused by earlier
errors bailing out
So I tried what little delving I could, now
unfortunately I'm at work right now and my computer isn't, and we don't have
port forwarding set up on the firewall yet, so even if I had configured sshd I
couldn't just log in and try (although it's on my plan to set that up
tonight). So I'm sorry if I can't provide tonnes of details or if some of
my info may even be incorrect.
But I did some looking and I found that xft
2.0.1-r1 is masked, 2.0-r1 is unmasked. My system should not be taking
masked files (I haven't looked in make.defaults, but I never specified ~x86 in
make.conf). I think it's trying to install 2.0.1-r1, although I can't say
for certain.
Any tips on what to try? One suggestion I
heard was to try ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -p kde and see if there were
other packages that kde or xft wanted that weren't included because they're
masked.
Although I looked into the dependancies for xft and
it's only x11-base/xfree and media-libs/fontconfig. Although I didn't
check if fontconfig is installed (but I would think it should be).
Any help would be great,
thanks.
-Patrick.
