Ignore that, it's way too complicated than it needs to be to boot a system via floppies. http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=33121 That is the simplest method of booting linux. It takes more floppies, but not so archaic messing around with Grub. You can get rawrite for Windows NT/2K/XP so you don't have to reboot into a DOS mode to create the floppies, and then just go through loading them all on the machine you want to install Linux on.
