Hi all. I'm new to the list, been running Gentoo for a couple of months
(and, BTW: wow!).
First a FAQ: is this list archived anywhere? I'm having problems which
I would expect to have been discussed here, but in the web pages I
couldn't find anything to tell me how to search old postings.
Now the real issue: I'm trying to do an 'emerge --update world' on my
home system, which runs lots and lots of software including GNOME. So
far I've had two packages fail to install due to what look like simple
careless mistakes in the source: first linc-1.0.1 failed to install when
the file "index.sgml" wasn't present for installation. I figured that
would be fixed quickly, but after a week or so of emerge sync it's still
there.
I applied a kludge -- stopped the build process after ./configure and
added a line to the Makefile to touch the missing file immediately
before it's installed. That got me through installation of linc, only
to run into another missing index.sgml file in atk-1.2.2.
This all makes me think that it might not be sloppy packaging, but
something wrong with my system such that sgml files aren't being
generated.
Or something.
Is this a known issue?
Thanks,
-mrj
