Trying to do a world update and I get told that ispell is masked (yup it
is...or at least the emacs one.) and it cant upgrade things.

The system is a gentoo 1.4rc1 with all stable packages, no
accept_keywords used at all.

I did emerge a while back ispell, and it seems that from the
package.mask file that it was using emacs ispell before. Ive removed
this emerge -C app-xemace/ispell and the other file that seems to
depend on it but still no luck.

Anyone any ideas.

Ta

emerge -p -u --deep world

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "app-xemacs/ispell" have been masked.
!!! (dependency required by "app-xemacs/text-modes-1.55" [ebuild])

You have to remove ispell from your world file (/var/cache/edb world IIRC). That seems not to be done utomatically on any uninstall.
