You set the timeout but did you set prompt for LILO so it will allow you to enter the image you want booted?

Installing Lilo allowed me to boot Gentoo, but I could not choose booting Windows. Lilo automatically booted the default image (Gentoo Linux) although I had the timeout set to 1000.
