Hmm. Just had the same fault on another ebuild* during installation of KDE. Same solution - fix the missing last closing curly bracket in the file. Is this a common occurrence, and is it something wrong at my end or is it happening to other people in the outside world also? *(can't remember what the package was - a graphics related library - I just put the final curly bracket in and off it went.
