all you gotta do is this:
# emerge <list of stuff you want>
so for example, on my system, i typed the following and let it build for a
day:
# emerge kde mplayer xmms gkrellm
it then calculated all the dependencies (X, kdebase, win32codecs etc.) and
started installing them in the approprite order (X before kdebase, before
kdenetwork)
