I just found a typo in /etc/mailcap:
# The following displays Japanese text at sites where
# the "kterm" program is installed:

test=test "`echo %{charset} | tr '[A-Z]' '[a-z]'`" = iso-2022-jp
there is a comment-hash missing, causing the mailto command to output
an error message.
As I did never edit that file, I must assume that is caused due to
some borked diff at some time in one of those ebuilds:
net-mail/mailbase
net-mail/pine
Anyone else have that?
If yes, I will file a bug.
If not, I must assume PEBKAC ;)
