My thanks goes to David Olsen and Ernie Schroder. Compiling ide-cdrom as a module and appending 'hdd=scsi' to grub solved the problem. The output of cdrecord -scanbus lists both my dvd rom drive *and* the writer however whereas the last time I had it working it only listed the writer. Strange but true. Something must have changed with the new version of cdrtools. By the way, has anyone tried ATAPI burning? Does it work well even though it is experimental? Much appreciated. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
