Thanks guys. Turns out it was indeed the new memory I'd just put in. I pulled it, swapped some RAM around so both machines had 512MB, and the compile worked with no problems. I bought the RAM on a promotion (at-cost, $200CAD for 2x512MB), so the deal is I have to pay the shipping on the warranty. I sure hope I can just pay and have them give me a new stick of RAM...
