Subject: [gentoo-user] System hang on mounting cdrom

Hello gentoo-user,

First of all, hello world :)

Now, I have a problem with my cd and generaly with 2.4 kernels. I
have mdk 9 with the same problem, which is best described here:
http://www.geocrawler.com/archives/3/35/2001/9/0/6727750/
although I have very different hardware - a Seagate 40GB drive (with
their driver so my motherboard can see more than 32GB) as hda and a
good old LG 40x CDROM. It locks up during the gentoo instalation, but
also when trying to mount under mdk. 2.2 kernels worked just fine,
without any problems.

Hardware: a Biostar mainboard, Celeron 333, 64MB of RAM, drives
already listed, GeForce 2 MX, SB PCI 64, an Ethernet card.

TIA (hope there are some patched kernels for this... and a bootable
gentoo with such :) )
