Are you using the --deep option in your upgrade? If so - it checks other
package dependencies and will try to maintain them... and they may want a
specific version of shared-mime-info. I'm very used to seeing this, and
unfortunately haven't found a neat solution, bar individually upgrading the
other packages. Although I think the -U option to emerge might be handy...
