[gentoo-user] network testing program

Can anyone suggest a good network testing program? I've been getting a 
lot of broken pipe errors while using distcc between 2 of my computers. 
One of these boxes is my mail server, although, I've never seen any 
problems when sending mail. I'm trying to figure out if its a distcc 
problem (does it with 1.2.3 and 2.0.1 on both ends) or a network 
hardware problem. Thanks.
