That did it! THANKS very MUCH!! I had been knocking my head against the wall of this for quite some time. Trying to make heads or tails out of comparing my old httpd.conf file with the two from Gentoo made things even more confusing. Lots of changes inside the config files from the stock one that comes with Apache. Just as a side note using Apache under Linux is GREAT!! And I guess especially under Gentoo. I used to use it all the time under Windows for development before uploading to my web hoster but it was pretty slow. Under Gentoo it is lightning fast!! AWESOME! Absolutely AWESOME!
